Perplexity is seeking a Public Policy Associate to lead on-the-ground engagement with policymakers, trade associations, and think tanks in Washington, D.C.
The ideal candidate brings experience from both Capitol Hill and external lobbying, possessing an established D.C. network and strong event execution skills.
This is an execution-heavy, relationship-driven role requiring an in-office presence four days a week and comfort with a fast-paced schedule.
Candidates who lack prior government relations or Capitol Hill experience should not apply.
Role Responsibilities
- 1Execute policy communications strategies, turning company positions into talking points, event backgrounders, and rapid response materials.
- 2Build and maintain relationships with Hill staff, executive branch officials, trade associations, think tanks, and civil society organizations.
- 3Advocate directly for Perplexity by taking meetings, delivering positions, and tracking relevant bills and rulemakings.
- 4Manage the D.C. event footprint, including Hill staff briefings, roundtables, product demos, receptions, and dinners.
- 5Represent Perplexity in coalitions and trade association working groups while partnering with think tanks on joint programming.
- 6Prepare executives for D.C. engagements through briefing books, meeting preparation, and post-meeting recaps.
