Vanta is seeking a Principal Software Engineer to own the architectural foundation for complex enterprise organizational structures within their Governance and Compliance platform.
This role requires 15+ years of deep backend engineering experience and a proven track record of designing platform abstractions and leading multi-quarter technical initiatives.
The ideal candidate excels at incremental delivery, cross-squad alignment through technical credibility, and enterprise architectural patterns such as tenancy and data isolation.
Candidates who prefer narrow, single-team execution or lack experience retrofitting live production systems for multi-tenant organizational structures should not apply.
Role Responsibilities
- 1Own the design and multi-quarter delivery of Vanta's enterprise org model, including hierarchical product lines, isolated data access, and data residency s
- 2Define and evolve core platform abstractions to absorb diverse enterprise requirements for the general case.
- 3Retrofit a live production system toward a multi-tenant org structure with safe migration paths and incremental delivery.
- 4Drive execution and build technical alignment across squads outside your direct reporting line.
- 5Partner with Engineering leadership, Product, and Design to translate long-term vision into phased, deliverable work.
- 6Set the technical standard for the group and shape architecture across teams.
